I second this motion! There is a lot more to this story than a small percentage of the population using SI. Most major US corporations are metric and have to be to compete. It's the news media that tends to keep this fact away from the general population. If the WSJ included the original units in articles it might enlighten many readers. You would be surprised how much of the US population is ignorant of the measurement system used worldwide or domestically for that matter. It certainly does not help us compete globally.
When US vehicle manufacturers have been metric for 35 years, but most US residents think all nuts and bolts, let alone design are still in inches, you have to wonder where people get their information? Why does Sears sell fractional inch tools? What are they used on? It's a good example of the decline of a nation! Failure to adapt!
