Dear Boston Center NWS Officials,

I am following this potentially historic storm for two reasons: I was born and
raised in Boston, and my sister and brother-in-law live in Medford. and, of
course, I remain in close touch with them. But, also, I think you have an
educational opportunity to highlight the metric system of measurement as a
frame of reference for the general public. This storm may dump around 1 m of
snow. Your frequent mention of the metric depth exclusively, without
back-converting to inches, perhaps with a video of someone using a meter stick,
would help make the meter a palpable idea among Americans. The metric system
has been the preferred system of measurement for trade and commerce in the U.S.
since 1988, and I believe that it behooves us to make it the system of choice
in reckoning our environment, beginning especially when history knocks on the
door.

SIncerely,
