Over here in Portugal, happened to catch a National Geographic program on the TV, was about drugs and illegals immigration along the Mexican border, the narrator in an American accent, used only metric units in the narration. This leads me to believe National Geographic have 2 different narrations for many of these programs, one in USC for the US market (not sure about Canada) and one in metric for the rest of the World.
Being Portugal, this program had subtitled in Portuguese at the bottom of the screen. When an Drug Enforcement Agent in a helicopter stated a distance in miles, the subtitles had the correct kilometre distance translation at the bottom of the screen. Looking around a bookstore yesterday, there was a French National Geographic magazine, all units were SI, yet picking up the English language edition next to it, all units were US customary only. Would be nice if they could make 2 English language editions of the magazine, and just like the TV program, have one in USC and the other in metric only. Mike Payne
