If Myanmar drives on the right, the cars will be LHD. For driving on the left you need RHD. There are a small number of US-made cars in RHD β the Chevy Cruze for one, as well as some Chrysler and Jeep models (although these are often assembled in Austria from kits supplied from the US, with the RHD components sourced locally). Itβs not only the position of the steering wheel that has to be considered β most of the rest of the world outside North America requires a higher standard of lighting as well, with such things as amber rear and side turn signals, high intensity rear fog lights, brighter headlamps with an asymmetric beam, etc., and few cars sourced from the US or Canada meet these requirements.
All cars in Australia must be RHD by law β LHD is proscribed there. Many Fords, such as the latest Mondeo, Fiesta and Focus, are now produced in almost identical versions in North America, Europe and elsewhere, and thus Ford could source cars for Myanmar from almost anywhere. Will Ford have metric only as that is what other vehicles have on their instruments or will Ford figure that since Myanmar is one of the uncommitted three that it will give them miles? http://www.boston.com/cars/news-and-reviews/2013/02/28/ford-sell-cars-and-pickup-trucks-myanmar/2kTx2POhpi4rnY2a9V9YmK/story.html If I'm not mistaken, Myanmar drives on the right and no American car company produces right and drive cars in the US for the export market. But I would assume Ford Australia must produce right hand vehicles and maybe it the cars will come in from Australia. Funny how the American press wants you believe the cars will come from the US, otherwise why would they care if Ford sells cars in Myanmar if they are produced somewhere else?
