If body measurements are so important to her, I would say that an average
span is 20 cm, the average height of to the hip is a meter or the length
from the tip of your fingers to the second shoulder;   also a meter is
almost a stretched step or a golf club, If that can make her happy.  Are we
in the approximate?  Use a measuring tape for Sam's sake!!!

estimating the dimensions of things in everyday life.  How do those of you
in countries where the metric system predominates think and speak in meters?
What  language do you use?  If, for example, you are comparing the height of
a refrigerator to your own height, do you think of it as being "several
centimeters" different from you height?
