Once again, Stanley Tool Works in New Britain, Connecticut, USA makes, or made, anyway, a 15 meter long metal tape measure that is METRIC ONLY. (and not fiberglas or plastic, entirely metal, American made)
I bought one back in 1975, so if they made them then, I can't imagine they wouldn't make them now. I remember trying to buy a kilogram scale back in 1976 or so and Borg (US company) made one but did not sell in in the USA. Perhaps Stanley Tool is in the same position, but it wouldn't hurt to check it out. You might be pleasantly surprised. I got the kilogram scale from Borg for free, because they had no way to bill one sold in the USA.(All were sold overseas)
When I taught shop in 1971-1978 my classes were entirely metric, no inches. I bought measuring tapes and try squares from Stanley and Starret, both American companies, but when I wanted one meter tape measures, I had to import them from Austria (made of plastic) since I only needed a small quantity for my classes and to give away at literature tables and conferences.
By the way, Stanley Tool also makes a METRIC ONLY one meter long key chain type measuring tape (metal, not plastic or fiberglas)
I want to buy a bunch and give away at science fairs and displays (like the National Association of Teachers of Mathemetics conference coming up in Chicago next year)
The only problem is the minimum purchase is 5,000.
So does anyone want to help out, and we could split up the purchase?
Again, they were in the Stanley Tool Works tool catalog about 25 years ago, METRIC ONLY one meter long metal key chain tape measure, but minimum of 5,000, which would cost about $5,000.00 to purchase. Anyone want to go in on this with me and share expense/product?
Mark
