Wikipedia is a mess where style is not based on what is correct, but the 
preference of the individual contributor.  Common error not usage creates 
confusion and damages the consistency and coherency of SI.  If you want to make 
up your own rules you might as well continue to use USC where anything goes.

Perhaps Wikipedia simply uses the de facto format that most people use. Common
