Ezra,

The desired amendment is for the *federal* Fair Packaging and Labeling Act
(FPLA).

The Uniform Packaging and Labeling Regulation (UPLR) is a recommendation of
*state, regional, and local* regulators via the NCWM.

Unfortunately, the State of New York has current laws which actually mandate
non-metric
units for the Unit Pricing of many consumer commodities! These laws need to be
repealed.

Of course, amending the FPLA needs the support of the State of New York as well
as the support of all other States,
and the support of all retail associations including the Food Marketing
Institute (FMI)!

Paul:

So glad you took this initiative to write to the governor.

I'm wondering if there are other folks who have contacts in the NY legislature
who could help get the permissive SI-only labeling amendment to the UPLR
approved in that state.

Ezra
