This illustrates part of the problem of not going metric. The World Health
Authority uses metric units throughout (mm Hg for blood pressure is a
"metric unit", even if it is not SI).

 

Had the doctor concerned said "six foot" and this was subsequently found to
be too close, he could probably have been sued, but if "2 metres" proved to
be incorrect, he has the back-up of merely repeating what the WHO said.

Watching a CNN report the Doctor  being interviewed yesterday several times
mentioned staying 2 meters apart from other people. At one point the
reporter said that is like this (stretching out his arms). No attempt to say
or xx feet.
