One way to attack this problem is to assume that the original readings were
taken in degrees Celsius and converted to Fahrenheit. If one checks all the
Fahrenheit readings in a table, one might find that all the readings in the
range 28-36°F are even numbers, 37-45°F are odd numbers, 46-54°F are even
numbers and so on. The middle number of each sequence of five numbers, namely
32°F, 41°F, 50°F etc is an exact conversion of the equivalent Celsius
temperature. An inquiry to the editor of the local TV station, asking why
certain values of temperature (such as 31°F, 33°F, 85°F, 87°F) never appeared
in the table might force him to admit that they had converted from degrees
Celsius.

Subject: [USMA 1438] Celsius on local news/weather apps

Dear friends,

One action I took recently was to download local TV weather apps and see if I
could set to celsius. I gave each app a review based on whether or not it was
easy to switch to celsius.

KCTV 5 in KC used to have an app that could be set to celsius. It was replaced
with a new app that can't be.

Let's campaign to have app makers incorporate metric, at least as an option.
