Yes, US quarts are different than Imperial quarts.

Two litres equals 2.1 quarts? I always thought that it was about 1.8 quarts … does something funny happen over the North Atlantic?

Here is something that ought to warm the heart of every metric enthusiast.
First we have the two liter soda pop bottle. It is illegal to call this a two liter bottle in the USA under current law. It has to also be labeled in ounces or quarts..
