It never ceases to amaze me how insular a nation we are until I surf a few
youtube vids or watch adverts for products sold to a world market yet
represented in obsolete units that only 2% of the globe still maintain. I see
this as an opportunity to educate. I will typically reply with "metric, please"
or ask "how much is 3000 'pounds' in non-American only units?".

I recently bought a belt online that had "3000 pounds" of strength and
"adjustable to 52"" after some banter back and forth with the company, they
provided me the specs in the correct units of measure - so now, they're hip to
the jive of what the rest of global humanity uses.

Recipes are another great opportunity. Web sites that ignorantly convey units
in the good queens "cup" or "teaspoon" will get a response like "I'm sorry, I
don't understand. What cup do I use?"

It may not be much, but it does raise awareness!

GO METRIC, AMERICA!
The World Is Waiting...
