Can you share who that seller is? Normally I'd not suggest a boycott but not
only was he rude about it, he actually blocked you as a customer for asking a
legitimate question? I'd certainly not want to purchase his products. I'd also
suggest writing him back suggesting that while you respect his views and don't
agree with them, his rude behavior in blocking you will force you to recommend
your friends not shop at his site. See how he reacts to that (probably won't
care).

Social media is a powerful place and can make someone a millionaire or make
them a pariah at the all the same.

Subject: [USMA 1663] Typical vitriolic reaction when requesting real world units

ATTENTION: This email came from an external source. Do not open attachments or
click on links from unknown senders or unexpected emails.

I see EVERYTHING as an opportunity to advocate the SI. Even though the typical
American response is to react with contempt, I still press on.

I was looking to buy 250 g of red reishi mushroom powder in eBay. I have a 22
year old, well established account, with money in my hand. I nicely asked the
seller if they could list quantities in the international system along side the
old fashioned American one as I portion my intake of this stuff w/a kitchen
gram scale and find it difficult to determine sizes ordered in the American dry
ounce - valid dietary reasons that I really do apply to my daily life and quite
difficult to do when using the olde dry ounce unit. For all they knew, I just
arrived here from any other nation on the globe.

Here was my original query and the response -

Me: Howdy - Any chance you can list the weight of your product in the
international system (metric) along side of USA only units? .
I portion my dietary intake using a kitchen gram scale and find it difficult to
purchase when the quantities are represented in the "ounce".
Thanks!

Reply:
That chore would take several hundred hours and ultimately be an eBay policy
violation for doule <sp> listing the same item.
2.2 pounds per 1000 grams.
16 oz per pound
28.3 grams per oz
250 grams is "about" 9 oz

Then the seller proceeded to block me from buying their product altogether lol.

It would take literally 5 minutes of this sellers time to fulfill a valid
request, from a paying customer. I guess the customer is always right unless it
involves the metric system in the exceptional United States of America.

If we really had a militant streak, I'd suggest we all gang up on every thick
headed American who dismissed "us" like they so openly can do.

GO METRIC, AMERICA!
The World Is Waiting...
