Hi, everyone,

I found an article by the Engineering Manager at a valve company
<https://nam10.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.linkedin.com%2Fpulse%2Fwhy-you-should-specify-purchase-metric-butterfly-valves-keeling&data=04%7C01%7Cusma%40lists.colostate.edu%7C81c400e7837346f7167708d9b6b28112%7Cafb58802ff7a4bb1ab21367ff2ecfc8b%7C0%7C0%7C637741700076297798%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000&sdata=Hu8wRdm6oJ9KsHHZeah6P1yKI0PwYkuHOGShydt0mBk%3D&reserved=0>
telling us that metric butterfly valves don't meet AWWA (American Waterworks
Association) standard C504 and should be avoided. (I think "metric" is used as
a synonym for "imported".)
I don't know if this is article promotes a real concern about standards, a
measure of protectionism for American valve manufacturers, or a dislike of the
metric system.

I noticed that he compares the American standard which is written specifically
for water valves with a DIN standard for general-purpose valves. Are there
accepted DIN or ISO standards for water valves that would make a fair
comparison?

Are there any engineers out there who can shed some light on this subject?
