** Caution: EXTERNAL Sender ** Supporters of the Fahrenheit scale claim that it is more accurate than the Celsius scale because its graduations are closer together. This is not true - the accuracy of one's measurement depends on the instrument that one is using, not on the output scale. On a second point, many digital thermometers are based on the Celsius scale - the one that I have in my house uses one bit per 0.1°C and can display temperatures of between -50°C and +50°C, suggesting to me that its electronics is based around a 10 bit analogue-to-digital converter. I can switch it to Fahrenheit, but it converts the output to Fahrenheit, but will never show 32.1° only 32.0°F and 32.2°F, in other words it rounds to increments 0.2°F, but because 0.1°C is equal to 1.8°F, every now and again the increment will be 0.1°F, not 0.2°F. So much for being more accurate than a Celsius device.
