** Caution: EXTERNAL Sender **

I noticed an interesting thing yesterday on Fox Cable's coverage of events
in the Middle East. Fox showed a remarkably clear graphic showing the
distances to which various missiles could rech Iran from Israel. It
showed the target in Iran with concentric cirles marked 1,000 km, 1,500
km, etc.

I suspect that the source of the chart was ultimately the U.S. Army, but
the print at the bottom was too small to see the source. I did notice
that the Fox host (Bill Hemmer) used legacy terms in his oral description.

The next day the same chart was shown, but this time the units were given
in miles, not even rounded, like 611, 914, etc. My guess is that the
graphic designers at Fox used the intervening day to make a new chart for
"dumb" Americans.

The new chart looked really silly with its non-rounded numbers, whereas
the previous chart showed an even 1,000, 1,500, etc. As I have suspected,
more original news sources are coming from non-USA sources, and even the
USA sources like the U.S. Army are using much more metric.

The metric system will eventually win out because of laziness! I've
noticed more and more metric units slipping in because that is waht is in
the original news sources, and there is no time to convert.
