Subject: [USRP-users] USRP N210 undetected blackouts when transmitting

Dear USRP users,
I have noticed a strange problem when transmitting.
I am using a USRP N210 with WBX daughterboard. On the host PC (running
Debian; 4GB of RAM; Samsung 840 PRO SSD; 82577LM Gigabit NIC), I am using
the 003.007.000 UHD version.
FW version is 12.4 and FPGA version is 10.1.
When running tx_samples_from_file I transmit a file with different GPS
signals. The process goes smoothly in the host PC (no underrus or overflows
shown for 25Ms/s and sc16 for the wireformat), and there is always signal,
meaning the position is always found.
Strange thing is, there are data "blackouts" in the C/N0 ratio, where huge
dB drops take place during the transmission. They happen at different
places in each run, therefore a corruption of the file to be transmitted is
probably not the case here. I expected only small dB changes (1-2 dB).
For some reason, the host PC does not inform of any Underruns (U).
I also tried a complete different thing, where I open 2 terminals in my
host PC and in one of them run: "nload -u M" and on the other one "hping3
--udp -d 1460 --flood 192.168.20.2", and if I let it run for several
minutes, I also observe the Curr. speed droping every 2-3 minutes.
Does someone have any idea of why this happens?
Did someone experience the same issue?
What are some things I could try in order to make sure what is causing this
malfunction?
* I have tried nice and ionice when running the tx_samples_from_file script
without better results.
* Another partners I am working with, which have the same setting as me and
another USRP N210, are experiencing the same issues.
Kind regards,
Adrian
P.S. I have attached some figures of the transmissions.

Hi All,
I'm very new to USRP, i'm trying to setup HDSDR using USRP N210. And refer
to:
http://files.ettus.com/uhd_docs/manual/html/usrp2.html#use-the-net-burner-tool,
it is stated that "Determine the revision number from the sticker on the
rear of the chassis. Use this number to select the correct FPGA image for
your device."
In which part of the stickers i can find the revision number information?
because there is 4 column available: M/N, P/N, S/N, & MAC. And none of that
column give the information regarding the revision number of USRP N210.
Can anyone help?
Thanks & Best Regards
Tides

The revision number should be on the N210 motherboard which can be accessed
by unscrewing and sliding off the N210's outer shell.

Also, if the N210 was purchased new in the last couple of years, it's
overwhelmingly like to be a Rev4 board.
