Hello to the list.

I have two N200r4 units connected via MIMO, both with WBX. Each is
connected to an identical antenna using identical, but not intentionally
phase matched, coax. The master unit has an internal GPSDO.

After tuning, LO lock, GPS lock, and MIMO lock are confirmed I start
continuous sampling, retaining ~10k samples (rate=12.5 MSPS, fc32) at
intervals of 0.04 sec (approximately 25 Hz burst sample rate). I retain 28
packets of 363 samples, dumping the remainder in the inter-burst interval
into the bit bucket.

At each burst start, and only for the first packet, the signal magnitudes
(sampling HDTV at 575 MHz, with timed command tuning of the LOs to 575 MHz
so the channel allocation is centered at 0 Hz in the baseband) are as
expected. For the second burst, and all subsequent bursts of the
inter-burst interval, the slave samples/measurements are attenuated by ~28
dB. One example is pictured below.

Configuration is a Thinkpad and Windows 7 with Win32; Microsoft Visual C++
version 10.0; Boost_105400; UHD_003.008.000-release. I've attached the
console run output.

Any suggestions or has anyone experienced similar?

cheers, Dan Sego

Hello everyone, I wish to ask a question on how I can upgrade my UHD
version for X310 to 3.8.0. My current UHD version is 3.7.1 . As I am new to
this system and I have tried to search in the internet but could not find a
guide to teach me.

I would hope someone could enlighten me on how I could upgrade my UHD
version. Thanks in advance and have a great day ahead.

Regards,
Wen Bin

If you used github to get the UHD source, you can simply run git pull in
the UHD directory (where the source code for UHD was originally installed)
and then re-run the make/make install commands. Alternatively you can
simply delete your old UHD directory and re-install from scratch. Here's a
link to install instructions from source code
http://code.ettus.com/redmine/ettus/projects/uhd/wiki/UHD_Build

If you used apt-get to install UHD originally, then it should just be a
matter of running sudo apt-get update and then sudo apt-get upgrade.
Assuming the latest version is pushed to whatever repositories you have
loaded. If not, check here,

Hi Tim, thanks for the reply. I used apt-get to install UHD, and I have
tried to run "sudo apt-get update" and then "sudo apt-get upgrade" but it
seems that it does not do anything (Ubuntu version 13.10).
I would also like to know what do you mean by "Assuming the latest version
is pushed to whatever repositories you have loaded.". I would also like to
know how I can do a clean uninstall of UHD if previously I have use apt-get
to install UHD. As I feel that git clone of UHD will be much easier for me
to do upgrade in future.

Wen Bin

Hello Wen Bin,
uninstalling the old version of UHD is always a good idea. Please note
that the version of UHD that you have installed must be *exactly* the
version of UHD that was used to build the software you are using.

On a side note: Ubuntu 13.10 is kind of outdated by now (it's end of
life and is no longer supported by Canonical). Please consider updating
to 14.04.1 -- that is a long term support release, or directly to the
most recent 14.10.

If I was asked, my procedure for updating UHD would be:
0. Uninstall uhd.
1. Update to Ubuntu14.10
2. get pybombs [1]
3. "pybombs install uhd"

Greetings,
Marcus

Hi Marcus, thanks for the advice. I will try out your method.

For uninstalling of UHD, do I have to just type "sudo apt-get remove
uhd-host" or there are others command which can perfom clean uninstall?

Wen Bin

Hello Wen Bin:

First, if you're using an X310, then I would strongly recommend that you
use UHD 3.8.1. There have been several important changes that specifically
benefit the X-series devices.

It sounds like you installed 3.7.1 from binary packages. I would suggest
uninstalling the packages, and then building and installing 3.8.1 from
source. Try "sudo apt-get remove <package-name>" to do the uninstall. Then,
download a zip file of 3.8.1 from GitHub [1] (or do a git clone), and then
build and install using the build guide at [2].

I would agree with Marcus, and also suggest that you use Ubuntu 14.04.01,
if possible. Although it's not absolutely necessary, 14.04.01 has all the
necessary dependencies and up-to-date packages, and is known to work well.
