Hello,

a question that keeps popping up on the list: is there a way to tag samples
within RFNoC such that it can be processed in GNU Radio?
In earlier discussions, the EOB bit was suggested for such purposes:

But I'm not sure the EOB can be used in the *receive* direction.

Possible use cases include running a frame sync block in the FPGA that
should be able to tag the beginning of a frame, or having an FFT-like block
or a filter bank in the FPGA in which case the respective first samples of
every block need to be recognized within GNU Radio. Possibly in a robust
manner such that loss of samples does not lead to catastrophic
desynchronization.

Is there a good way to accomplish this kind of tagging?
Best regards,
Peter
