There are various packages out there, some of them based on Gnu
Radio. I have no personal experience with them, and
a post to the discuss-gnuradio mailing list might be useful.
Nearly everything you might find is intended for developers with some
background in DSP design. There's nothing out there
that is intended for end-users, per se.

The USRP B2xx series don't use daughterboards. They're integrated
units on a single PCB. The use the ADI
AD936x series integrated RF front end (RFFE) chips.
