I agree they should be spelled out, and yes, they do not define
protocols (strictly speaking, even HTTPS specifies only a binding of
HTTP to TLS, though). But yes, point taken. In fact, the entire
subsection could be simplified to giving the scenarios and saying which
protocols are used in such cases. That would also address your second point:
