No, IP addresses are not DNS names. And IP address SANs are octet
strings, 4 bytes for IPv4 and 16 bytes for IPv6.
There is a mapping of IPv4 and IPv6 addresses to reversed dotted quads
for reverse resolution. Examples:
1.0.0.127.in-addr.arpa. IN PTR ?
1.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.ip6.arpa.
IN PTR ?
But in all other ways IP addresses are definitely NOT domain names.
