Thanks for your help. It's working now! :-)J. Alan Atherton wrote:Can anyone tell me how to enable and configure conduits for Gnome Pilot? I'm trying to sync my palm with Evolution 1.0.8.
These are some personal notes when I figured it all out. I was going to
write an article, but never got around to it.
First, discover if usb is installed (should be on RH 8.0) and if need
ohci or uhci. cd /dev, then chmod 666 ttyUSB* run gpilot, go through setup wizard, change device path to /dev/ttyUSB1
and rate to 115200, and port Handspring USB. Continue, should find username, etc. It will not want to change sync method... i.e. no conduits. throw this
in the terminal: gpilotd-control-applet --cap-id=1 This will allow you to enable your conduits, and you can now sync with
evolution. If you need the memos feature, there are various other
programs that support that (just be warned that some of them will
duplicate all entries in your datebook for some odd reason).
I'm a little shaky on what I should be doing with the following instructions you gave me.
First, discover if usb is installed (should be on RH 8.0) and if need

I'm 99% sure USB is installed but what is ohci and uhci and what do I do with them?
I tried the rest of the insructions and this is what happened.
[root@localhost /]# gpilotd-control-applet --cap-id=1
GnomeUI-WARNING **: While connecting to session manager:
Authentication Rejected, reason : None of the authentication protocols specified are supported and host-based authentication failed.
** ERROR **: Error initializing gpilotd capplet

[root@localhost /]#
Anymore ideas?
Thanks,
