: He's now trying to do the same with Linux, specifically RH 8. Is this : possible and if so, how?
If you're talking about connecting to an X session on a Linux machine from ?indows, it can be done.. I'm sure that Hummingbird program would do it.. And X R6 has that functionality in it already.. I picked up a piece of software at LinuxWorld a couple years back that runs an X server on ?indows called X-Win32.. It's super easy to setup and worked like a champ.. The copy I tried is commercial and pretty spendy, but I'm sure there are others out there.. I guess you might even be able to work something with ssh and X forwarding possibly.. Haven't tried that.. I also have some copies of Tarantella application server that runs on Linux and lets you connect to the Linux system using a web browser from any computer or a native client program on ?indows.. It's pretty cool.. Anyway, if it helps, here are some links: http://www.starnet.com http://x-thinpro.com/ http://www.x-securepro.com/ http://www.frontiertech.com/Product/SuperX/product_details.asp http://www.xwinpro.com/ http://www.astec.co.jp/products/ENGLISH/ASTECX/ http://www.tarantella.com/ Later, Bob ____________________ BYU Unix Users Group http://uug.byu.edu/ ___________________________________________________________________ List Info: http://phantom.byu.edu/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/uug-list
