alright... so i bought the D-link wireless router and set it up last
night at home. very nice... it had a nice, simple, web-based interface.
it was very easy to configure.
anyway. so i have a printer hooked up to one of the computer (this one
is running Microsoft Windows) that is connected to my network. i shared
this printer.
now, i want to be able to send print job to this printer from across
the wireless network (from my PowerBook). i am connected to the network
and able to see both computers, both ways, but... the printer isn't
showing up when i look for it to install it (it is an HP DeskJet).
i was thinking that one of the easy ways to route to it would be to
assign an IP to the printer. in the "Print Center" in OS X, you can
route to a printer via several ways... AppleTalk, Rendezvous, USB, IP,
Directory Services, etc". i know that the printers on the network at
the office where i work have their own IPs.
what's the best way to find this printer? should i assign it in IP? how
do you assign a printer an IP?
