You do not need to go to such drastic measures to solve your
problem. Have you looked up how to associate and disassociate files
with applications in Nautilus? You can configure which programs are
offered for which file types with the ``File Types and Programs'' part
of the GNOME Control Center.

If you insist on deleting all of your default settings, then I
recommend you log out, log back in at a virtual terminal as root, go
into your home directory, and delete the specific directories that
hold the configuration settings. There are several directories that
look like they may hold such settings, but since I do not use
Nautilus, I cannot tell you for sure which one is the correct one to
delete. Try setting your configuration before you go deleting things.
