After hosing my system, I reinstalled RH 9 (why I didn't just install RH 8
so I could just use this app that I need, I don't know) and this time I
used apt to upgrade. It got me the glibc rpm's that were on that web
page. It still doesn't work. Here is the full message it gives:
$ verilog
/apps/verilog/LDV40-20021122/tools/verilog/bin/verilog.exe: relocation
error: /apps/verilog/LDV40-20021122/tools/lib/libsimcontrol.so: symbol
errno, version GLIBC_2.0 not defined in file libc.so.6 with link time
reference
and here is the output of ldd:
$ ldd /apps/verilog/LDV40-20021122/tools/bin/verilog
not a dynamic executable
Any ideas? It works with RH 8, and they officially support up to RH 7.2.
Both seem to use glibc-2.2.* and RH 9 uses glibc-2.3.*. I found compat
rpms for redhat 7.2 which are glibc-2.2 but I don't know how to get this
app to use them after I install them. It puts them in:
/usr/lib/i386-redhat-linux7/
It would be dang cool to make this work, but if it's too much trouble then
I just re-reinstall and downgrade to RH 8...what a pain. Actually, I
better check with all our vendors and see which distro the "support" and
install the lowest common denominator. Probably end up with RH 5 or
something.

P.S. how did the PLUG activity go this evening?
