Mike,

I don't know if this may be of help, but I got an email a while back from HP regarding 
hard drive failures on some models including my own.  I don't know old yours is, but 
foturnately mine was not one of the effected models.  You may wanna give them a call 
if yours is between 2 or 3 years old.
