Hey,
Got the latest kernel and figured out that having hdb=ide-scsi as a boot paremeter was causing the kernel to freeze in the middle of IDE initialization. I have been trying to figure out what the problem was ever since about 2.5.25.
The IDE subsystem has been rewritten. IDE-SCSI emulation is no longer needed, so it's gone.
