The original LRP (Linux Router Project) has since gone the way of the dodo but a quick google query will find you several pre-built floppy and/or cd images of linux routers. With many of these setups you boot from a cd-rom and it loads settings from a floppy. This allows you to setup the box how you like it, save settings to the floppy and then write protect the floppy. This makes for a much more secure setup than otherwise because everything is read-only. I realize that to some this takes the fun out of it, however, it is much quicker, easier and more foolproof than a homebrew setup. All of which are important when setting something like this up for non-techies. Seriously, it's great for older computers -very small install, very functional, very cool (I think its a 3-4pt coolness level increase). Start here [1]. The FAQ is less of a FAQ and much more of a manual; there is a ton of info there. Infact, I've rarely read anything about OpenBSD outside of their website and local man pages. Read the relavant sections; its all well written. Matt W.
