Hey there,
I have been trying to setup an ftp server on my Knoppix 3.2

me in the right direction as to how to properly install and run a good
ftp server, preferably with sftp capability? Thanks

There is no such thing as a "good" ftp server, IMNSHO. There's only less
ugle, less crackable ftp servers.

I'm pretty sure that you'll not be able to find an ftp server that
speaks sftp. Just install the openssh server package.

As far as I'm concerned: http for anonymous download, sftp for
authenticated upload, non-authenticated upload is generally a bad idea.

I totally agree with this.

Actually there used to be a standalone sftp server, before OpenSSH finished theirs. FTP is a terribly ugly protocol. I use ProFTPd though, when I have to.
