Most unfortunately almost all USB headers are different. You need to find out exactly which pin is which and make sure they all match up.

Check that everything that needs to be enabled in the BIOS is turned on as well. Also, make sure that the BIOS is the latest version, since most BIOSes from that era had updates that improved USB support well after the first release of the hardware.
