Sheesh, all of you have failed. 92,957,000 is most definitely only 5 sig figs. If you specified it as 92957000. (notice the terminal decimal point), 9.2957000e8 , or specified that the error was less than 10 miles (like 92957000 +/- 2 mi), *then* you could say that it's 8 sig figs. Otherwise, it's only 5.
