You are Alumni, BYUSA welcomes you.

If you are not alumni, student, employee, or the spouse of one such, the
UUG still welcomes you. Sadly, BYUSA says you everyone else can not be
an "official" UUG member and enjoy the benefits of "official" UUG
membership.

The only benefit or official membership that I've been able to determine
is that if you are 1) a student and 2) taking enough classes during
fall/winter to qualify as a full time student, you are able to be a club
officer. Furthermore, if you are good hearted enough to be a club
officer, I've found only two benefits: 1) You are worthy to attend
super-secret planning sessions wherein BYUSA red tape is unrolled and a
good time is had by all. 2) You are periodically harassed and threatened
to sacrifice at least one officer to regular, useless BYUSA meetings and
training sessions.

<intermission>Okay, you can get up and stretch now. It is appropriate at
this point to express our hear felt thanks to the current UUG
officers.</intermission>

But BYUSA wants us to be a service organization. In its infinite
charity, the UUG has decide to allow even people who are not directly
affiliated with BYU to participate in the community. We are serving you
by sharing our knowledge. (It is only right and fair that you
occasionally feel a desire pay back the community by sharing your own
knowledge. Just don't get uppity and expect "official" membership.)
