The krb5-libs is part of Kerberos. You should be able to just apt-get
krb5-libs. More information would help us diagnose your problem. What package
manager are you using? Have you tried installing kerberos with it, instead
of downloading kerberos seperately? Did you download an rpm, or source? What
errors did you get?
I don't think that installing from source will register a program with the
rpm database, so installing other rpms that depend on it might still fail
even if you successfully installed it from source. I would recommend using
apt-get and see if that doesn't fix your problems. apt has an option to
install any packages that are needed by any other packages on your system. It
has helped me out of many a tight spot.
        Good luck,
                Richard Esplin
