All I had to do was to enable pop by editing /etc/xinetd.d/pop3s (or
just normal pop if you want, but I wouldn't recommend it) and restart
xinetd.

See what iptables -L shows. You should be able to type 'setup' and use
the firewall config tool there to add the pop port.
