Postfix and /sendmail/ are two different choices, but SMTP
is the underlying protocol used by both.

As for Comcast, smtp.comcast.net (at least, here in Provo)
requires authentication -- or, at least, Mozilla keeps
asking me for a password when I send mail through that
server.

I'm mainly looking to relay my outbound mail through the
Comcast server because I have a few family members whose
ISPs classify all mail sent by servers on home IP addresses
as spam and never deliver it.  I rather prefer for my emails
to get where I intended to send them...
