Uh, no. A more correct statement would be, "If you like MySQL and make
money with it please give back. Pretty please." There is no obligation,
legal or otherwise, to buy a support contract or support MySQL in any
way. You can get a guilt trip if you like, but they have no power to
force a guilt trip on anyone - they choose to release it under the GPL.
Part of the package. Obviously, if you are in a position to help then by
all means do - for the good of all, but most importantly for your own good.
If you really benefit from MySQL then you will almost certainly benefit
from a better MySQL. This is what IBM has been doing with Linux, and it
makes sense.
