Hey, all. Has anyone tried putting all the install disks for their favorite distro onto a single DVD? For example, with RedHat, can I just put the image for the first disk on and add all the RPMS from the other disks into the RPMS folder? Will it still ask for disks 2 and 3?
I can't say for certain, but I'm going to guess that it will work. If you google a little more you might find instructions.
Anaconda has some voodoo to find valid repositories wherever it can if you let it. I know we used to put disc 1 in the cd drive and disc 2 in the dvd drive and it would find and use the second disc without asking.
I also once had a spooky thing happen because of this voodoo. I was intalling RH9 from iso images on my hard drive but I also had the FC1-test isos in the same directory. So the RH9 installer just used the FC1 packages 'cause they were newer. I was really scary to have an install that's usually routine come up with different versions of packages than you I expected.
So, yeah, it should work. Give it a go and let us know. Don't forget the boot sector from the first disc!
