I was just wondering if anyone has managed to get a pcmcia wireless card working under a 2.6 kernel. It was working fine under 2.4 and since i upgraded to 2.6 i haven't tried to get it to work again, however now i am giving it a go and i can't quite seem to get it to work properly. I emerged pcmcia-cs and wireless-tools but with the 2.4 kernel you don't compile pcmcia support into the kernel, instead you let pcmcia-cs drivers do all the work. Well now pcmcia-cs tells me that i have to have pcmcia compiled into the kernel so i do that and have pcmcia load up and when i stick in the wireless card the activity light turns on and cardctl status shows

Socket 0:
   no card
Socket 1:
   5V 16-bit PC Card
   function 0: [ready], [bat low]

but ifconfig -a shows nothing and before when pcmcia was working properly when i would insert the card it would give me two beeps, now it does nothing. I am assuming the problem here is pcmcia is seeing the card but doesn't know what to do with it, do i need to change wireless.opts or some other thing to set this up or do i have to get a driver? I just wanted to see if anyone knows off bat.
Thanks

-Chris

p.s. the card is a Xircom model CWE1100
