Fun names I've seen:
At IBM: Grendel, Hygd, Unferth, Guthlaf, etc. Guess what kind of cluster it was.
At home (you have to know your French history):
Louis XVI (Win98 workstation), Clovis I (Debian Server), Pepin the Short (IBM X20), Henri VI (Dual-boot)
At BYU (French literature anyone?): Moliere, Baudelaire, Zola, Diderot (terabyte RAID), Pascal, etc.
We needed four servers to run as two pairs, so we named one pair Beauvoir & Sartre (20th century existentialist couple), but we couldn't come up with any other French writers who ran around together. Then a native French video editor suggested Verlaine & Rimbaud. Yes, we have had complaints that that is not appropriate for BYU.
