My brother recently learned a lesson in keeping good backups, but not quite
soon enough. He has a failed hard drive that does nothing but report read
errors, even from a FreeBSD boot CD. Of course, there are files on it that
he really doesn't want to lose.

Does anyone have any experience with any data recovery companies? I found a
few on google that seem reputable, but firsthand reports are always better,
and it might be easiest to try a local (i.e. Utah or Salt Lake counties)
place first. From my initial inquiries, I (think I) want a place that has
a clean room and charges by the hour (rather than by the amount of data
recovered).

Thanks for any input,

JN
