Hey guys! I've recently switched from Win2k to Linux, and I'm hopping through distros tying to find the best one for me.
Right now I'm on Yoper (which has been the best so far for me) - but... I can't get Java 1.5/5.0 installed (I want to have it for CS142 and I want to stick with Yoper). The only place I find anything about how to do that *get Java 1.5/5.0 working on Debian) is (if you google for 'Fowler debian java'): http://www.martinfowler.com/bliki/DebianJava.html ... and that seems like a good walkthrough - except for the fact that step one fails with: [EMAIL PROTECTED] ~ # apt-get install java-package Reading Package Lists... Done Building Dependency Tree... Done E: Couldn't find package java-package [EMAIL PROTECTED] ~ # A fact you should know - I have _no_ clue about Debian based distros (or any other in fact). So... I don't know what to do. I've read a ton about how Debian used to support Java but doesn't now - and I don't care. I'll take the risk.
