[uug] Editor for large (100 MB+) files

I need to look at a large file (around 400 MB in size), and I am 
wondering if anyone knows of a good editor (either GUI or command-line, 
for Linux or OS X) that handles these large files well.  I would like 
something that does not try to load the entire file at once, so it will 
be snappy.  Suggestions? (and don't say VIM, because it tries to load 
the entire file).
