my $.02

reiserfs is, imho, the best filesystem for linux - both for performance for
reliability.  i've managed it on literally thousands of disks, and reiserfs
is one of the main reason i run linux over BSD for servers.  YMMV.

but if you are new, and just using your linux install for school project, it
doesnt matter which filesystem you choose - ext2 will be the easiest, and
it'll be just fine.

What type of horror stories have you heard?  I have been using Reiser
for my Samba file server, and it hasn't had any corruption problems.
