Hi all,

I created an SVCD mpeg using my TV capture card, but I cannot get it to
play correctly with mplayer. Since SVCD has resolution 480x480, it is
displaying my movie at a 1:1 aspect ratio, but it is supposed to stretch
it to 4:3 aspect ratio.

Fortunately with mplayer I can use a command-line option to override the
display aspect ratio and it works. But it is kind of tedious to have to
override that, and I am worried that when I try to go and burn an SVCD
that it is not going to play correctly on my hardware DVD player either.

So, I was thinking of upgrading my mplayer and also trying to download a
different mpeg2 codec or something, but then I went on my other computer
running windows and downloaded WinDVD 7 and it had the same problem!

Now I am thinking there must be something wrong in the mpg header or
something, but I downloaded a program called MediaInfo and it said that
the DAR (display aspect ratio) on my movie was 4:3.

So, does anyone think this is problem with a bad mpeg2 decoder? Or, do
you think the .mpg file that my capture card created has something wrong
with it. What can I do to find out what the problem is and how can I
fix it?

Thanks,
Phillip

P.S. The capture card in question is a KWorld Studio TV Terminator.
