I never download full isos anymore. Instead I download this:

http://mirror.chpc.utah.edu/pub/fedora/linux/releases/8/Fedora/x86_64/os/images/boot.iso

Then I do a http install, selecting a close mirror, like the UofU:

http://mirror.chpc.utah.edu/pub/fedora/linux/releases/8/Fedora/x86_64/os/

a complete http install is actually almost as fast as a DVD install,
believe it or not.
