my place when I depart.

Okay, I don't get what you mean by that.

I know Chemestry loves Linux.  I recall a research group in Geology using 
Linux (maybe it was Mac)  The astronomy part of the physics and astronomy 
department uses Linux almost exclusively.  Both the Chair and Associate Chair 
in physics use Linux as their main OS.  There are even Slackware and Gentoo 
users in the physics department.  The theory research group uses Linux and 
Macs.  Lots of students in science need to know how to use Linux and be 
converted instead of grudging use it because they have to for their research.
