I use CrashPlan myself and think its awesome!  It isn't open source
but the program is free.  They have Windows, Mac, Linux, even Solaris
installers and provide multiple backup options which include:

1. Backup to internal/external hard drive
2. Backup to a friends computer
3. Backup to their servers
