Each and everyone of us, in his/her own country, must put up pressure on our governors to pursue that direction and objective. We do have a voice, let us all have it heard!

Dearest Fellow Alumni:It is with a heavy heart and saddened soul that I send you this e-mail on
this day of the greatest and most infamous terrorist attack on the United
States of America. It is additionally alarming that many of our fellow alumni work and live
in the areas close to the attacks on the World Trade Center Towers, the
Pentagon, the U.S. State Department and Pittsburgh, PA.If you have ANY information concern our fellow community members and
their families, please, let us know how they are doing. The loss of life today is staggering, and the senslessness of these
deaths is overhwleming. If ever you questioned the NEED for the aspirations and mission of the
United World Colleges, you can now reflect on the real need for our
efforts towards tolerance and community peace. As Gandhi once stated, "the joy lies in the struggle and in the fight,
not in the victory (of achieving peace) itself".I urge you to renew your support of- and dedication to- the ideals,
aspirations and mission of the United World Colleges.Terrorism is everywhere.
The United Kingdom, Indonesia, The United States of America, Saudia
Arabia, throughout the entire African Continent, etc.The UWCs were conceived and established as a result of many good people
reacting to the horrors of war.Terrorism is our new war. It is all about us. It cloaks itself in the
guise of guns, land mines, machetes, nooses and other tools of
destruction. There is violence in our music, our cinema, our news, our neighborhoods,
our homes.Enough! I beg you, enough!
Please, renew your dedication to-, belief in- and behavior providing a
living example of the United World Colleges' ideals.Although my hopes are that what I write next is is not a fact, I am sure
that among our alumni or their families is a loss of life and/or injury.Send your good thoughts and prayers their way.
The world's military forces, intelligence and related-NGO communities are
now in extreme states of heightened alert. Many, many UWC alumni work in
these areas. Please, pray for their safety and send them our good
wishes.DO NOT LAY BLAME upon each other's philosophies, political and social
beliefs and socio-economic communities; rather, use your energies to work
toward common solutions and the too often elusive ideal of tolerance. If the United States of America goes to war, as both a UWC alumnus and
American citizen, I will support the ideals of peace AND I will support
the actions of my country.I now understand the statement, "This is my home. Mi Tierra!"
God bless you all. My love and thoughts go out to all those affected
families.I look forward to hearing from many of you.
Let there be peace,
